Hailed by the San Francisco Chronicle as "funny and fresh-voiced", tenor Gary Ruschman
appears regularly in concert, opera, jazz, theatre,
studio, and chamber music settings, but with special love for contemporary and historically
informed performance. His performances include principal light lyric and character tenor roles in thirty operas, musicals, and plays, as well as an extended concert repertoire.
Currently in his eighth season singing full-time with CANTUS vocal ensemble, Gary performs and teaches frequently at major venues throughout the United States and abroad, and has served multiple terms on the ensemble's Artistic Council and Board of Directors. He is currently on the voice faculty of the Mount Calvary Academy of Music, and maintains a private voice studio in the Twin Cities.
The tenor is also very active as a choral and vocal clinician and teacher, working with tens of thousands of students nationwide in opera, choral, and vocal programs. His choral, chamber, and popular arrangements have been performed throughout the United States.
